Kim Nelson, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in Neurosurgery at MD West ONE, formerly Midwest Neurosurgery. She completed her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
She has worked for MD West ONE, formerly Midwest Neurosurgery, since 2006. She primarily works under Dr. Andrew Gard's direction and previously with Dr. Wendy Spangler for 16 years. Kim has always had a love of medicine and being able to help others. Neurosurgery is an exciting specialty in which she enjoys the transition between both the OR and clinic settings. Kim appreciates spending quality time with her patients to educate them on their particular conditions and provide them with options for best treating these.
"Whether it be conservative management or surgery, I want to make sure they are comfortable with their decision. It is rewarding to be able to help my patients in their time of need, and I feel all of our surgeons strive to provide the best possible care."
Outside of work, Kim loves spending time with her family. Cheering on her two kids in their sports and activities is her favorite hobby, along with coaching some of their teams. Running has always been a passion of hers, and she enjoys competing in fun runs around the area.
