Tanner Shea, PA-C
Physician Assistant for Dr. George J. Emodi
From a young age, a deep curiosity about science and mechanics shaped Tanner Shea’s passion for the medical field. While his mom envisioned a future in engineering—specifically in the design of prosthetic implants—Tanner always aspired to become a physician.
During college, it was clear that a career in science was the right path, but the exact direction remained uncertain until learning about the physician assistant (PA) profession. The ability to work across various specialties while completing training in a shorter time frame than medical school solidified the decision to pursue a PA career.
Throughout PA school, Tanner discovered a strong affinity for surgery, particularly during general and neurosurgery rotations. However, it was during the final rotation in orthopedic surgery that everything fell into place. The complexity of orthopedic procedures, especially in the operating room, was both fascinating and fulfilling.
As a PA at MD West ONE, Tanner is deeply passionate about assisting in total joint replacements, a surgical specialty that is both highly rewarding and technically captivating.
Outside of work, Tanner enjoys weightlifting, water skiing and tubing in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter. A dedication to fitness played a significant role in choosing orthopedics, as restoring the body’s mechanical function is both professionally and personally inspiring. Additionally, Tanner has a strong desire to travel and experience cultures around the world.
