MD West ONE along with Doctors of Physical Therapy hosted a Work Comp Happy Hour event on Thursday, November 21st at MD West ONE Fountain Ridge. We want to thank everyone who attended; it was a fantastic turnout with over 50+ attendees! We provided 1 CE for PT, OT and Nursing. Guests were able to network while enjoying delicious charcuterie and drinks before the presentation. Dr. David Buck of MD West ONE explored a common and significant issue in workplace health: shoulder injuries. These injuries, which range from strains and sprains to more complex conditions like rotator cuff tears and impingement syndromes, can lead to substantial pain and time away from work. He discussed the most common types of work-related shoulder injuries and reviewed typical recovery timelines for returning to work. He also examined the various barriers that can impede a full recovery and delay the return to work process. Lastly, he covered the treatments available, from conservative therapies to surgical options, that can help workers get back to their jobs as safely and efficiently as possible. Understanding these factors is crucial for improving outcomes for both workers and employers.
He ended his talk with a Q&A session and shared more about his involvement in the Work Comp space. As a recap, Dr. Buck's practice is primarily focused on knee and shoulder injuries and arthroscopy (about 70%), along with a general orthopedic practice (30%). He also provides IME (Independent Medical Examinations), second opinions, and revision surgeries where he will review records prior to scheduling appointments to determine if he can offer assistance. Additionally, disability ratings are available upon request, and he offers records reviews to provide impairment ratings for patients when needed.
